"This was awesome, I don't even like punk rock and I was totally mesmerized by the passion and talent put into The Third Sex. If only they were still together! I'd love to see them live. Some of the tracks (particularly 6 and 12) I've just been listening to over and over, Trish and Peyton's voices are so appealing".

"this is REALLY good stuff. The band consists of three dykes, Trish, Peyton and Shari. If you're into grrrl bands, you'll love the Third Sex".

Team Dresch: http://diy-zine.com/media/team-dresch-uncomplete-discography-1994-2000

Поклонникам "The Sound of Olympia" советую обратить внимание :)

Цитирую Инглиш Вики: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Third_Sex ) "The band featured Trish Walsh on guitar and vocals, Peyton Marshall on bass and vocals and, initially, a series of drummers. Although a smaller band[compared to?], they helped propagate the queercore movement across the country. A part of the Riot Grrrl scene, The Third Sex were significant in feminism's third wave and both influenced, and were influenced by, DIY culture... Third Sex lyrics were often political and featured songs of heartbreak and hidden relationships. Playing with bands like Bikini Kill and Bratmobile, The Third Sex travelled across the country, performing in hundreds of local venues and building a large grassroots following".

1. На удивление хорошо слышимый уху, несмотря на "гаражную" запись смачный гулкий бас. Каркасом большинства песен служат простенькие, но качовые риффы басухи под грохочущие всеми "железками" барабаны;
2. Звеняще-скрещежушая ритм-гитарка "по гаражу" даёт жару!;
3. Крайне примитивные, буквально из пары нот проигрыши / соляки добавляют характерного "шарма";

Definition, Blue Room, Time Bomb, Love In The Basement.

I saw the Third Sex play at a tiny house show (they were on tour with Harum Scarum) in El Paso, TX in 1998. It would have been some time around October or November of that year because it was one of my first dates with my first girlfriend. My girlfriend (whom I had just met through some mutual friends) was more punk then me at the time and it was Thursday or Friday night and I was begging her to tell me if she knew of any shows happening that we could go to that night. As I recall she was like, "Well, there is this one show I heard about but it's waaay out over on the east side of town at this girl (Lizzie?)'s house. People play in her backyard sometimes..." I asked her who was playing but my girlfriend had no idea so after a phone call we heard it was just some local punk bands, maybe some touring band. Okay, fine let's go anyway. We showed up kinda late (as was my style) and walked up the side of the house and through the fence and right in on the second song of The Third Sex's set. Trish was wearing pink bunny ears. The stage was a kind of covered back patio next to the garage with some bare flood light bulbs and I think some Christmas-light strings providing the harsh lighting. It was seriously only about the second or third time I'd ever seen a girl or GIRLS on stage. My girlfriend and I were serious riotgrrrl fanatics but living in El Paso at the time, we never saw anything of the sort. The only girls who were in bands locally (I only knew of two) never did anything but stand on stage looking cool and occasionally smoke a cigarette in between vocals which could best be described as cooing, while the boys in their band did all the serious action. And of course those girls had been straight and constantly posing and draping themselves for male approval. So we were in for a real treat watching Trish and Peyton thrash around, jump, scream bloody murder and writhe around on the floor AND sing about things that actually mattered. And it seriously just about changed my life. I had never seen girls take music so seriously before. And they switched instruments, if I recall correctly -- Trish playing at least one song on the drums. It was like our Bikini-Kill obsessed dreams were coming true. And then Harum Scarum played and that also blew my mind completely. Afterwards we couldn't believe we had had the good fortune to see girls play and they had come all the way from the mythical Pacific Northwest to our tiny culturally misogynistic hovel. All the band members (and their roadie?) were so nice and real, selling merchandise out of little beat up suitcases. I was pretty awestruck and therefore incredibly shy but I did end up buying a Harum Scarum cassette (demo maybe? Sadly, I lost it or more likely my girlfriend did) plus a bad-ass hand-silkscreened Harum Scarum t-shirt with a towering pile of skulls on it (which a gutterpunk who didn't even know the band years later stole out of my apartment) and a thriftstore hand-printed Third Sex t-shirt which featured a small front and back "logo" print consisting of their name in a heart. I wish I had just talked to them more. Damn. We had a Harum Scarum poster for years, as well. About a year later I found both the Third Sex's albums at Soundwaves in Houston, TX (their 2nd album Back To Go had just come out) but those also got stolen years ago. So thanks for putting this stuff up!

Oh! Thank you so much for this [really!] priceless wide comment of eyewitness! I'm a huge fan of Riot Grrrl Movement 90-s, but find any info (especially zines!) & records in Russia is a rather difficult. And we have maybe 1,5 fans of such music here, he-he (( That's any bit of information is invaluable to me.

Yes, Harum Scarum are wonderful crusty grrrl band, first heard their records in 2008-2009 and literally fell in love :)

How you described the experience of their gig, I felt this way, then first hearing Sleater-Kinney "Call the Doctor" 96' and Team Dresch albums. And i think Riot Grrrl was the Last Truly Revolition Movement not only in Punk, but in all long decaying Rock music (((

If you interesting to chat about all this stuff, you can find me as a Happy Deadman on Soulseek, or Lastfm: http://www.lastfm.ru/user/Megamraz or just write on mail: petlug@yandex.ru

I'm glad to see that my writings have an international success :) I apologize, if my English is poor, bye!
